The company culture is outstanding. AppFolio provides ample opportunities to learn and grow your career as a young professional. The c-suite leadership is exceptional too. The department heads have a tremendous amount of business experience and yet they never make you feel like some insubordinate cog in the machine.

Cons

The change management communication and execution across departments could be better.

I actually think it’s hilarious how every time someone tries to tell the truth about working at Appfolio, all of a sudden Glassdoor is flooded with “good reviews” (notably from some directors) trying to say all the negative reviews are from the layoffs. Sure Jan. While yes, the layoffs were a bad move, especially since more people are leaving the company and more customers are jumping ship due to a bloated and ever increasingly expensive product, it’s not the only reason while Appfolio is failing. The company does not stand behind its values, leadership is not transparent and lies to your face during meetings while trying to keep up this weird “rah rah” attitude, they do not promote, and continue to make bad business decisions that aren’t in favor of the customer. Do your homework before you come here.

2023 was a challenging and transitional year but now that we’re on the other side as a healthier, more resilient business, there’s a lot of upside to working at AppFolio. Leaders do what they say and say what they mean, and are accessible and connected to our team and customers. The culture is inclusive, we are explicit about the behaviors that we value (the AppFolian Way), and extraordinary performance is rewarded. Our customers are amazing – real people solving real problems, and deeply embedded with us as partners. And the pace of innovation has never been faster.

Cons

Still some lingering sore feelings from last year’s RIF. But I think most employees are sophisticated enough to understand the realities of the macro environment and are more interested in looking ahead.
