Good pay for Hazard, KY

Pros

Standardized pay grades and raises, you know what you will be making based on your qualifications.

Cons

Not enough staff in almost all departments. This leaves staff stressed and in a bad mood and does not promote a good work environment, in addition to decreasing patient care.

Pros

Pretty decent cost of monthly healthcare but only if you use their facilities. The usual paid time off & sick time.

Cons

Horrible management that knows nothing about the jobs they oversee, severely understaffed causing unsafe work environments, company is only about making money even though they are "not for profit." Very high turn over rate. Awful hiring process.

Pros

Bedside staff work together amazingly. I feel like everyone is one big family. Everyone knows everyone. Yes, the family may have some issues with each other here and there but all families have that. The staff go above and beyond for patient care and safety. The staff is the only reason I have stayed this long. To be able to work alongside individuals whose hearts are in the right place and truly do everything within their abilities to care for the community, keeps my hopes up.

Cons

Administration. I’m not sure this text box has enough room for all the cons that could be addressed. But to name a few… administration does not seem to have any interest in staff’s concerns regarding any unsafe issues or things needing improvements. Administration cares only about numbers on paper, not the one patient those numbers represents. Or so it seems that way. Why would you allow someone, who has no experience of standard patient care practice, to have the ability to alter an entire hospital system’s procedures. I’m sure this current administration was brought in to make more money for the company but it is actually driving more people away. Yes, they are accepting more transfers from sister hospitals to create revenue but when the inpatient beds are full.. the patients get to be boarded in the ER. “We want all the patients, we won’t turn down anyone”. 12 bed ER with 10 holds.. creates a situation of using two beds to see emergency patients. Which creates longer ER wait times and most of the time treating patients from the lobby or a chair in the hallway. I know staff has addressed multiple times about the concern for holding patients in the ER to administration. Staff in all departments do not get the recognition they deserve. Administration only addresses negative feedback and rarely gives staff the validation that is needed. Department directors are slammed with meetings that won’t allow them to step away from the computer screen for more than a few minutes. Directors are supposed to lead and be an advocate for their staff while being a middle man between administrators. How can a director be able to effectively direct a department when they aren’t allowed to be present in the department? They push away the staff that address concerns within the facility instead of fixing the issues.
