Good Company to Start your Career off

Pros

- In Professional Services, your experience and opportunities will be dependent on the projects you're staffed on (maybe this is a con?) - The people here are great - if you're on a team with Appian employees, you'll have a great experience. If you're on a project with partners / by yourself, you'll feel isolated - Even junior staff gets to take on large responsibilities - Occasional bench time to relax after intense projects is nice - Remote work is generally acceptable; very flexible of personal obligations

Cons

- Remote employees (even at satellite offices) often feel undervalued vs those at HQ - PS structure is beginning to turn bureaucratic, not as "flat" as it was a few years ago - Career path and expectations are ambiguous - Clear and actionable feedback is hard to come by

Pros

If you have joined in US then awesome team environment Free breakfast Amazing office

Cons

Small team Manager micromanaging everyone Not worth Graduate’s time It’s all about making “APPIAN” better not the individual better which is actually disappointing Manager will have 1 on 1 with you every other week but it’s useless they just want to get rid of the people who are genuinely trying to fit it... all they care about is the people who are quick learners

Pros

Solid product that "does what Appian says it does". Solves real business problems.

Cons

Whatever you want to call the market that Appian plays in - BPM, Case Management, Rapid App Dev - there are some serious challenges to consistent growth. These types of products have been around for a couple of decades now, and are constantly squeezed by pure-play "application" software companies (salesforce, sap, oracle, etc) as well as the unique customization requirements that only custom programming can accomplish. It is not easy selling these products. Appian itself is one of the least sales-friendly companies I experienced in my 20 years in the space. I felt like a contractor more than an employee, with little investment on their part in developing a collegial sales team either through training or a president's club. I also witnessed sales personnel being terminated for sharing competitive information with their colleagues - I had never seen that before!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Although we do not currently provide a Presidents Club to recognize the success of our sales organization at this time, we have worked diligently to create a rewarding compensation plan. Additionally, our sales enablement department is changing the "business as usual" process, by extending on-boarding to ensure proper training, including more interactive workshops to bootcamp, our Sales Kickoff and Quarterly Business Review meetings. Additionally, they've added podcasts, tips and prospecting tools to help our sales force achieve success. We've even begun providing greater visibility and recognition for our reps to show our appreciation. Given how fast our whole organization is growing and changing, I hope you'll check back in to see what else we're adding and changing to show our reps that we care and value their contributions.
