Thank you for the feedback and taking the time to leave a review. We are in the process of launching our first company wide engagement survey (1 week away!) to understand the employee experience both company wide and per department. The leadership team cares deeply about ensuring our employees feel valued and supported and plan to use the results of that survey to make adjustments where needed.

Sales - Run Away!!!!!

Pros

Big on social activities at corporate but zero pros anywhere else.

Cons

The solution ( PaaS/BPM) is pretty much dead in the marketplace. IT hates it, the LOB's don't understand it and Appian is clueless on how to sell it. As a rep you'll be given 3-5 accounts( which more than likely have already been picked over by the previous 3 or 4 reps) and it's your job to overcome all of these issues. Expect no help from sales mgt., most talk a good game but have made their numbers at Appian by answering RFP's which were fed to them. FYI< Nepotism runs rampant in this company and all the sales leaders are either friends of the SVP of Sales or the owners themselves. They "feed" their favorite reps while the 150+ new reps get the garbage and micro-managed to death. Unless you're new to tech sales run away as fast as you can from this place, you have zero chance of making any money and it will be a big stain on your career.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Appian does not have a nepotism problem. Your reckless claim that "all the sales leaders are either friends of the SVP or the owners" is demonstrably false. The four founders (myself included) weren't friends and didn't even know our sales leaders before we recruited them. Some of the sales leaders used to work at the same company in our industry. That is normal and healthy. They aren't drinking buddies scheming to keep the Glengarry leads from you. Sales is hard work. Every week will see a founder somewhere pitching in to help close deals. I myself flew to Brussels this month for one sales meeting because we all have to help it each other if we're going to win - and even then there are no guarantees. I'm truly sorry it didn't work out for you here. Bad luck? Maybe. Not enough hustle? Possibly. But nepotism - no way.

Pros

From my experience, Appian offers a great work-life balance. Work-life balance is sadly rare in the tech space. Yet, Appian's flexibility with the support of colleagues has allowed me to go back to school part-time for my Master's degree while working at Appian. Overall, Appian employees are helpful, engaged, and passionate.

Cons

Be sure to keep compensation competitive across departments.
