Pros

Smart people around and challenging work. Providing opportunities to college graduates.

Cons

Appian provided 3 weeks of intensive training and I got let go on the last day of training. Appian has "evaluation" or "demo" type of final project at the end of the training.... Trying for IT company when you didn't major in CS or similar fields was very challenging.....

Thank you for sharing your experience in Appian Academy. It's not meant to be easy but I'm sorry to hear you were let go. The majority of Appian consultants are not CS majors since our platform enables business people to create apps without writing code. The presentation or "demo" you mention is typically a great opportunity for non-CS majors (like me) to shine but it's also part of our focus on collaboration in all aspects of the business. For the best idea to win, it has to be heard.

Pros

Your immediate peers are smart and hard working. The problems are interesting and there is opportunity to grow in your career for junior hires.

Cons

Too many processes, politics and top down directives. The roadmap changes weekly with unrealistic deadlines for a product that requires a lot of overhead to change. The RTO mandate is being rolled out with no care or trust for employees and it is killing the culture.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We're glad you had the opportunity to work on challenging and meaningful problems alongside our talented employees. People and culture are core to what makes Appian a compelling place to work. We know that returning to the office is an adjustment, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. We believe that in-person collaboration, connection, and speed of execution are foundational to our culture and success. While we have always offered some flexibility, we are an in-person workplace first. We appreciate the feedback and we're actively working to improve how we prioritize and communicate across teams, and we wish you the best in your next chapter.

We understand that the recent layoffs have been challenging for everyone, and we deeply regret the impact this has had on your onboarding experience. This was a difficult decision made after thorough consideration of our current business needs and future goals. While necessary for the long-term health of the company, we recognize the personal and professional toll these decisions can take. Additionally, we are actively working to stabilize and grow our business to create a more secure and positive environment moving forward.
