Pros

-Growing: Growing, entrepreneurial firm that employs some very smart people. Plenty of scope to rise up quick if you are competent enough. -Great people: The people are simply amazing. They are young, bright, and very enthusiastic. Many socialize after work, and there is a significant amount of EC activity (softball, soccer, picnics). -Very Selective: The talent-density at Appian is way higher than its peers. All prospective recruits must go through a rigorous, super-selective interview process. The founders still conduct final round interviews - you need to be at the top of your game to make the cut. -Fair: Appian is a total meritocracy. If you perform, you are promoted, period - regardless of age.

Cons

-Unstructured environment: Many times, situations, responsibilities and growth paths are unstructured. You need to figure out the best way forward, and then communicate your successes to management (formally, and informally). This may work well for some, but others may find it too risky. -Specificity of skills: In the consulting group, its common to spend 60-75% time around Appian's software product. While client/project management and communication are transferable skills, those that involve the myriad quirks around its complex product are simply not transferable. These are just institutional knowledge.

Pros

Cool office & perks, unlimited PTO.

Cons

My manager ultimately stabbed me in the back. Being a recruiter here is a trap. No one has your back, your are just an order taker and every stakeholder has unrealistic and unfair expectations. The founders have their hand in the entire recruiting process and it makes it so unbelievably hard. They want top talent but have not top talent pay. They are not flexible on RTO so good luck.

Management issues overshadow any positives

Pros

Few to mention. They hire and fire on a whim! Appian and Salesforce were established in the same year. That should speak volumes.

Cons

Many, but most of all the mgt.
