Pros

Time off policy is flexible. Some years there is a full company shut down the week of Christmas, which allows one to see their family over the holidays in the US. HR takes harassment very seriously and wants to ensure the safety of their employees.

Cons

As a young female engineer, I have experienced and witnessed multiple instances of sexual harassment and sexist comments. In addition, Applied does not always prioritize keeping their current employees, and oftentimes the best way to get promoted and fairly compensated is to go to another company and then try to get rehired at Applied. Furthermore, they primarily require everyone to be in office full time even if someone's job could be done completely remote. Some employees can request exemptions to this, but it is unclear what would constitute an approval for remote or hybrid work.

Pros

Dynamic and interesting industry. Generally good people to work with especially at mid and lower levels. Decent job security.

Cons

With "Flexible Time Off" coworkers don't take time off which dis-incentivizes others from doing so. They took away hybrid work schedule w/ no real justification. Come to find out that upper management didn't trust us to work from home, so instead they forced us into cubicles 5 days a week...

Pros

The benefits are good, the people are really nice, the work is interesting

Cons

Very slow career progression, a lot of managers are working managers meaning they are mostly ICs, but then also manage so the management always falls to the wayside. Leadership decisions do not always make sense and are not well explained. Additionally after 4 years of remote work with continuous record quarters, they are implementing a full RTO without any real explaination or consideration for hybrid exceptions.
