Pros

Ton of overtime. Decent commission. Take home work vehicle. Good benefits.

Cons

Micromanagement is at an all time high at all levels of the company. Terrible management training. Unrealistic production quotas, which will affect your bonuses. A joke of a base salary in the Bay Area which they dangle the bonus carrot but make it hard to attain. Service professional are expected to service 20 stops a day. Anyone who has done pest control will know it’s not manageable. Terrible service standard, not enough time between stops to perform services correctly. Not enough equipment, terrible budget issues. Ordering new things for your area is a nightmare. Group of college kids come and do a terrible job at selling and setting expectations, and are a mess to work with. Constantly lying about services, destroying long last relationships with property managers where we house them and did I say they like to lie?

Pros

Sales Commission - This was the only reason I was interested in the job. Production Bonuses Company Vehicle and Gas Card Decent health and life insurance Benefits Retirement Account

Cons

Seasonal Sales Success - I sold the most upgrades in months where customers had the most complaints. In fall and winter months customers are not in need of heftier treatment packages, so commission dropped dramatically. Inconsistent Practices - We were trained to be thorough in the meetings, then told to skip steps in the field. Getting more stops done was more important than doing a good job. Half of the customers were dissatisfied. Overworked - While healthcare benefits were great, the lack of flexibility made it impossible to schedule appointments. Many of my coworkers had no time to take care of things at home. One went to coach his kids' sports games in their work clothes because they didn't have time to change beforehand. Customers were added to routes without warning, sometimes changing an 8 hour day to an 11 hour day. This made it impossible to make plans or commitments outside of work during the spring, summer and early fall months. Lack of Community & Social Disconnection - Weekly meetings looked and felt like a detention center. Coffee and energy drinks were being chugged to offset the lack of rest and bags under everyone's eyes. Managers did their best to bring positivity and excitement into the meetings, but with everyone overworked, exhausted, and under acknowledged technicians are just asked to work faster and harder every week. There was no time to build substantial friendships within the company. Meetings were held, supplies replenished, then off to the races to try to get home before 8pm. Don't put in two weeks. Just quit. All of my colleagues that left the company put in a notice and were fired the next day.

Aptive: A way of life

Pros

Aptive is by far the best company I've ever worked for. It's much more than just a job or a 9-5. Aptive provides so many perks, events, parties, travels, and opportunities to their employees to enjoy life; not just a paycheck. The leadership at Aptive are genuine and have the customers and employees best interest in mind. I've never seen a more employee-focused company before. One of my favorite things about Aptive is their desire to give back. Every year, they plan a Humanitarian Trip in South America to allow employees the chance to travel and give back to those in need. It has been life changing to go on those trips and to work here at Aptive. You'll love it.

Cons

Compared to other companies, Aptive provides less paid company holidays, but they just added more to the PTO carryover and added another Floating Holiday. They are constantly improving and innovating.
