      Wished I had made a better choice than Argo Group.

      Pros

      Decent benefits, nice offices. Paid parking.

      Cons

      Argo Group has a toxic if not bankrupt corporate culture. Upper management leaves a lot to be desired, and does not listen to or respect the middle management, who are exceptionally talented and capable. Cronyism runs rampant. No connection between how people are compensated and the value that they provide. Company values are words painted on the sides of the walls; not believed by anyone, certainly not practiced or demonstrated by upper management. It starts at the top with the CEO, and is not likely to change.

      There are some very talented individuals in the organization.

      Cons

      The list is extensive: Lack of vision and direction Poor change management Expense ratios are out of control Executives do not walk the talk, values are just words on a piece of paper, they are not demonstrated Total lack of trust in the organization Great talent is walking out the door at an alarming rate Micromanagement is abundant Employees are not treated with respect "My way or the highway" environment, diverse ideas are not welcomed or considered

      Pros

      The salary and benefit package was equal to other insurance companies but not as good as it was two years ago.

      Cons

      Upper management places no value on their employees. In the past year the claims department has had countless people leave due to the work environment. Upper management has no respect for the employees opinions. Company is outsourcing jobs to India. They are part of the employment crisis in the US.
