Pros

3 day workweek (for weekend 12hr/days) or 4 day workweek (Mon-Thur 10hrs/day) Climate controlled (A/C in summer, well heated in winter) Work atmosphere is take your time and do it right rather than hurry, rush-rush, so generally low stress Good 401k matching (up to 6% plus an additional yearly bonus added!) Generous profit sharing when business is good and partially paid time off when business is slow. Holidays and PTO that accumulates that you can actually use when you want to 90% of the time A lot of little extra perks and thank you's like Christmas gift cards, sometimes even extra bonus $, and box of apples; company paid picknicks... Humm... thinking of all these makes me think, maybe should have stayed or consider returning?

Cons

Although it's not Union, seems to be a lot of Union-like mentality in that sometimes it seems the goal of some people is to do as little work as possible and those that do work efficiently, find and solve real issues and fix them actually get a target put to them because it make others look bad. Interdepartmental and drama between shifts, 3rd shift blames 4th shift, 4th shift blames 5th shift, 5th blames 6th shift, 6th shift blames 3rd... Now there are times were there are real issues that need addressed, but seems could be done in more of a clear, constructive way. Also seems at times HR and floor are at some sort of oppositional battle. This may be the result of excess whining of employees getting to HR and then just ignoring of even reprimanding when an employee has a valid concern. The low cost of health insurance and good benefits (100% covered preventative care on dental and other) was you of the factors that I signed on with Ariel. Since then in the short time I was there (5 years) that cost has more than tripled! It is a one size fits all so there's no options for selecting deductibles, or just getting dental and getting your own medical or accident elsewhere. No discounts for staying healthy and not needing chronic care. Basically if you are healthy you will be subsidizing the unhealthy in a big way.
