      Great working for ASU but it felt like a call center

      Pros

      Being a staff member at ASU provides you wonderful opportunities including tuition reimbursement and matching 401K. This position allows you to get your foot in the door if you want to move up at the University.

      Cons

      Unfortunately, this job wore me to the ground. It ran like a call center. Everyday the focus was making a certain number of calls and talking a certain number of minutes to students. While the goal was to deliver good service to the students, it was the quantity that seemed to matter more than the quality. Every minute of your work is tracked. Everything feels micromanaged. After a while it started to feel a bit demeaning.

      As a phd research assistant, the time is flexible. Nice campus and extremely good colleagues in BYENG.

      Cons

      The pay is pretty low. Phoenix is too hot during summer.
