Pros

There is always a new challenge to embrace and conquer at Ascend, also the office environment is very professional and the employee's welcome newcomers with open hands.

Cons

Management is not approachable, lacks a commendation system for shinning employees, and there is not a lot of room for opportunity.

Pros

At the Decatur site I have found the people to be supportive and friendly. Engineers and support staff do a great job of responding to requests quickly and not building a backlog of important tasks. Managers do a good job of avoiding overloading their engineers or having unreasonable expectations. Ascend offers much more vacation time than other employers do for entry level engineers. I work a forty hour week and then I get to go home, you can't underestimate that value to your life outside of work!

Cons

As a growing company, there are still plenty of reminders of Solutia, the company Ascend bought out. Also since it isn't a well established company yet there are always concerns that your job is not stable, but the management are usually optimistic and reassuring.

Cons

Lots of change and turnover. Not growing teams to support growth of company. Management not engaged at site level. No training. Expectation to complete multiple ad-hoc projects at any given time with little direction.
