Pros

The benefits package is better than some other big community management companies. Over the years, I worked with some good individuals, but almost all of them moved on to other opportunities with different companies. Other than that, I can't say anything positive about the company. I stayed because I liked my properties.

Cons

They track how much business you provide to Associa On-Call because the budgets for the management and in-house maintenance services are comingled. This isn't something they make public knowledge to their associates or clients. HR won't write you up for not using an in-house maintenance service. Still, they will take any opportunity to fire you if you don't make them enough money through ancillary services, no matter how long you've been with the company or how good of a manager you are. To make things worse, when you bid out services and include the in-house maintenance, it's just one of their partner vendors with a markup. It makes you feel like a scumbag manager pushing their proposals. There's a good old boy culture that runs from the top down. Lots of drama and sexism. Think of the boss getting with the secretary type of "family values." It's all well-known throughout the company. There is no loyalty to the employee on their part, which is especially troublesome in the world of community association management. Everyone knows a Board can turn on a manager instantly through no fault of their own. I've seen it happen to the best managers. Associa will repeatedly reassign their favorites without regard to how bad of a manager they are. They will terminate good managers if a Board says so when someone higher up doesn't like you, or you won't unquestioningly recommend Associa On-Call/vendor partners during a bid process because you have integrity. Your job is never safe if you don't drink the Kool-Aid.
