      Retail Banking is dying

      Pros

      Company has an excellent core group of dedicated employees who know what is going on, have a sense of what it takes to really get the job done, and love what they do despite the challenges.

      Cons

      Shareholder pressures are lethal to the retail bank. This compression forces extreme measures by upper management that translate into unrealistic sales goals while cutting FTE. The results are shadow sales goals, and less than 1% of branch management making bonus. There are cliques that are hard to break into, and a lot of decisions are made without thinking of real world impact.

      Big ideas, poor execution and horrible management

      Pros

      Decent salary, management has no idea what the staff is doing and does not care.

      Cons

      No clear direction, very "layered" management - not accessible and do not speak to their staff (don't have time and don't care). Very much a who you know environment, with dismal morale. Failure is the norm.

      Great health benefits. Co-workers have been wonderful at every branch I've worked.

      Cons

      New management style being implemented (micro-managing). Unreasonable goal expectations for location of branch. Promotion from within is slim to none (regardless of what they'll have you believe)
