Pros

AP is true to its mission - being the definitive source of trusted news. AP has a rich history with many accomplishments to be proud of. AP has many talented and smart people.

Cons

The pace of change is extremely slow, which leaves the organization vulnerable. Investment in the future is second to making generous pension obligations. People don't move around or leave AP so careers advancement is limited.

Pros

Great heritage dating back to Abraham Lincoln's inauguration. Journalists are the best in the business. They are an authority on both international and state news reporting. Strong Brand recognition in the global marketplace.

Cons

IT is stuck in the past using systems dating back about twenty years. Very not for profit culture, especially where many IT staff seem to be waiting for someone to tap them on the shoulder and tell them it's game is over.
