Pros

nothing is good about Garden Ridge

Cons

you get fired if you do not have pto time...period..even if your parent dies, you go on a honeymoon...anything! The upper management treats everyone like work horses and is totally disrespectful to everyone, even though we work overtime..all the time..for free. It's a hire and fire company. People thing the chineese treat their employees bad?? Garden Ridge is worse!

Pros

I guess the pro of working at Garden Ridge would have to be it's a secure job. I am not sure what you would have to do as far as bad job preformance to get fired.

Cons

management and corp. doesn't care one bit about the employees. They have know idea which employees do the work and whichones don't. They let certain employees (friends ) run amuck. Told merch managers they would make 24,000.00 a year. that was a 50 hour week with a hour a day paid lunch. so, average was a little over 11.00 a hour. Then they decided to make us hourly. cutting our pay to a bit over 9.00 hr. and piled more work on us. so we work over 46 hours and are checks pathetic. Don't be sick or have a emergency with out personal time to cover it. There is no unpaid time off. You just lose your job.

Pros

Fun atmosphere with plenty to do every day. After a day working at Garden Ridge, you always feel like you accomplished something. We have really good team spirit at our location. Thanks mainly to our G.M.

Cons

It seems in these tough economic times, that the consumer is spending less, and returning items frequently. We are somewhat low on staff, which really tightens the work load. I would love to have a spotless, organized store, though that is nearly next to impossible. You need to be strong physically and mentally to work here.
