Pros

Good salary. Niche products. No real competitors. Good benefits package.

Cons

Never made a profit. Stocks slumped to record lows. Nepotism is the norm. Senior managers with crayon-writing only skills; nothing else.

Pros

I have been very jaded about medtech companies but this one actually is the thing that most medtech companies wish they were, in terms of culture, vision, work environment. Super patient-focused - most companies will say that, few will deliver. Product development side of the business is very clinically oriented. Vision-driven. Culture is very positive - lots of grads coming in from UC means that there is a lot of youthful, dynamic energy and ambition, but senior leadership is highly experienced and qualified to guide. Some really deep knowledge in the industry here. The company is a really unique size, uniquely positioned, and uniquely ambitious. Communication cross-functionally is generally pretty smooth, friendly, and professional (e.g. we're all on the same team). You will see work-life balance in terms of even management-level people actually using their PTO and planning for it in a way where the world doesn't stop turning and people don't seem stressed about it... I have worked at a lot of places where people at director level and above never take their PTO, so it's encouraging to see that here. The in-office culture is buzzing and worth going into the office for. Fiscal management of the company seems sustainable and smart. Company is consistent across the board about investing in professional development and education, lots of opportunities to grow both in your group and laterally/in other functions if you so desire. I was suspicious at first that the positivie reviews, workplace awards etc. seemed a little too good to be true... it is not perfect but it is actually great.

Cons

Growing company means that sometimes there is a little bit of chaos. If you've worked for smaller companies before you will know how to handle it - what I see here is nothing in comparison to what I've seen at other orgs. Atricure seems to have made it to a place where it's feeling more on the structured side than small-business chaos, but sometimes there will be a bit of a jarring disconnect in terms of shifting responsibilities, shifting report ups, etc. The only other real con in my mind is that sometimes with the small-business culture it lacks the flexibility you can find in a larger corporation, where you can work remotely or in different time zones efficiently, but that's kind of inevitable given that the size of the company. If you want that ultimate flexibility, your best bet is to work contract. Second to that, if you want to work in a salaried, team-oriented environment, this is probably the best it gets.
