Pros

Flexibility of work, self paced growth, connection to Amazon, volunteer opportunities and free food are great highlights. If you have kids, people openly prioritize them and the culture is very understanding. Every sub group such as content, product, tech and other have a certain level of autonomy that allows them to flex innovation muscles. The employee affinity groups are a nice touch and keep community at work engaged. Commuter benefits are a lifesaver.

Cons

It is extremely narrow minded leadership. If anyone has been at Audible and read's Bezos's day 1 letters it will show clearly that the company is on it's Day 2 stage. Very few areas of the business seem to know what they are doing. The top management (L8) in product, tech, content and finance breeds a toxic and competitive culture that trickles down. Over the past year I have lost many colleagues to cheap tricks to silently lay them off. The company has recently implemented a "lease effective" nomination by every single L8 leader and the internal measurement through amazon connections has created a mechanism for them to target unfavorable opinionated employees whether effective or not. In the process of layoffs and silent layoffs in the past two years, intense competition and change in circumstances has been cited to oust long standing employees. Senior leadership is not afraid to pull rank and is fast to make employees face consequences.
