Continues to decline under spineless leadership

Pros

- Free lunch - Free tickets to events in Newark.

Cons

- Culture of competition, no longer are pay increases based on how well you performed, rather you need to perform better than the person next to you. We're no longer working together, we're working against each other for pay increase scraps and hoping to not be included in the next round of layoffs. - 5 days in office and they're real jerks about enforcing it. It has created a lot of animosity of employees towards managers. - Lack of strategic vision. At this point it seems like the goal is just to become another department within amazon. - One example of just how ridiculous this place has become is that this year they eliminated President's Day as a company holiday and their explanation was to align to "industry standards". ??? The CEO will do anything to make amazon leadership happy, even if its a detriment to audible employees.

Pros

1. Still many talented engineers to learn and collaborate with. 2. Good for indian candidates. In some orgs, Indians are taking up 70%, which is still growing after every regro.

Cons

1. Promotions often depend more on relationships than measurable performance. 2. Career progression is slow; moving from L4 to L5 typically takes 3–4 years, which can hinder growth. 3. Heavy office politics in certain domains reduce focus on engineering impact. 4. Too many ineffective senior roles lead to resource waste and reinforce politics. 5. AI pivot feels unbalanced, with visibility sometimes rewarded more than execution.
