Pros

-Had a few good team members who were smart and collaborative. -Enjoyed coming together as a team and company to address any issues for the company to operate more efficiently. However, it felt like there were so many discussions and documentations and less implementation. -Some fun team outings. -Overall, a decent place to start your career or a temp job but not somewhere to grow.

Cons

-Benefits have been the worst that I've seen - almost nonexistent. The company has been around since the 90's but hasn't grown enough to invest in decent benefits. -There was no annual review so no merit increases. -Not an innovative company for a webdesign agency. -I question the attitude of middle management who've been there for awhile - could possibly contribute to the lack of innovation and growth for the company. Pretty sure they also wrote the comment about prima donnas/divas - just shows their lack of professionalism and lack of empathy for team members (Minnesota Nice at its best).

August Ash Response

For any potential future employees, the above statements are incorrect. We are both confused and concerned about the above review, mainly because our company currently offers a robust benefits package, including traditional and high deductible health insurance options, dental, vision, company-paid 401K contributions, and company-paid Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), and life insurance, which have been in place since January 2020. Our company does quarterly employee performance reviews (EOS quarterly conversations). We conduct annual compensation reviews each June, during which employees are considered for merit increases.

Pros

The people are the best to work with. Having worked in toxic work environments, August Ash is a breath of fresh air. It's great to have people open to change. Work/Life balance is an actuality in the company, I don't need to work 50-80hrs a week.

Cons

In a small company you often need to pitch into areas that aren't your official position. There is some excessive documentation, but I think the company can change that over time.

Pros

- The headline says it all when it comes to culture. Team members will consistently hang out outside of work, and the weekly happy hours always bring the team together. - The work/life balance at August Ash is unmatched. There have been multiple times when something unexpected pops up or I need to make a dentist appointment during the day, and I have never had a problem. Leadership trusts that employees will get their work done, and they don't micromanage your day. - Summer hours also give employees the opportunity to work half-days on Fridays so they can enjoy the summer weather. - A pro/con of August Ash is the small size. The positive is that you really have a voice from day one and gain more experience than you could ever imagine in a variety of areas. - Leadership holds quarterly "State of the Company" meetings where everyone is encouraged to ask the tough, but necessary, questions that help us grow as a team.

Cons

- The con of the small size is that you're expected to be a jack of all trades, which can be a positive, especially for entry-level jobs. It can be stressful at the beginning to manage the load and gain a grasp of all the different tools you will be using. It gets better, however, once you understand how certain tools can actually make your job easier. - The digital marketing industry is very dynamic. There are always new products, updates, best practices, etc., that can be difficult to keep track of. It helps that August Ash is a process-oriented, EOS company, which gives team members the opportunity to raise their concerns on a daily basis, but it's impossible to keep track of everything.
