Fulfilling, but Exhausting

Great colleagues, and a dedicated and optimistic management.

Cons

Technical jobs like mine frequently lack technology, which makes teaching hard. The culture of testing, testing, testing all falls on the teachers; there's somebody in your room observing and assessing nearly every day. It's demoralizing and often insulting.

Many great schools, but some wrongheaded initiatives

Pros

Teachers and administration in this district work hard and take pride in what they do. All of the schools seem very well funded. Lots of programs, lots of specialists, lots of intervention.

Cons

The current superintendent's ideas about student discipline and the removal system is misguided. She calls the alternatives schools "pipelines to prison" as if the alternative schools are leading children to a lifetime of incarceration.
