Pros

Working with the kids is fulfilling, families can be very kind, being in the field is great for experience- especially for beginners. The pay is reasonable and the supervisors are forgiving if there are misunderstandings. They will almost always take your side if there are problems with the family. If you ever feel uncomfortable with a case, they will give you the option to stop without any complaint.

Cons

As a BT, you are treated as disposable and replaceable. I think they are used to BT’s often quitting because of how stressful the job is. You are honestly given very little support, and the training is no-where near as adequate for the situations you will be faced with. The supervisors are hit or miss, some are very caring, while others couldn’t care less about you as a person. They only care about fulfilling their personal goals with the clients, anything else is deemed unnecessary. With Covid, the supervisors don’t actually get to know the kids very well, but are trusted to know their needs. One thing that is especially irritating is that you are kept in the purgatory of part-time by one or two hours. Clients can also quit on you frequently, and there aren’t that many benefits if that happens.
