Autodesk is a great place to work

Pros

Autodesk is a leader in CAD, BIM, VFX, and 3D animation technologies, and is one of the most important technology vendors in all of its markets. Working at Autodesk is a privilege; you get to work with some of the brightest and most talented people on the planet, who love what they do.

Cons

Autodesk is a bit decentralized, making it a bit chaotic if you need to bridge multiple industry groups as part of your job. Autodesk lacks a culture of grooming great managers. It hires very talented people, and it does invest in them, but there is no general ethos of building people up to make them great leaders; you need to figure out how to do this on your own, and find your own path. Also, Autodesk acquires many companies, and typically the leaders of acquired companies get moved to key management roles, leaving the folks who have been in trenches still in the trenches. It can be disheartening.

Good company, but weak operational management and execution.

Pros

Good company benefits and treatment of employees. Generally, nice people to work with and collaborate. Some very scary smart people at Autodesk.

Cons

The scary smart people should not necessarily be in leadership positions. Carl Bass as CEO is very weak CEO. He is practical, smart, and somewhat visionary. He does not provide clear direction and is generally looks at the negative at most things. The company has an eclectic culture due to so many acquisitions so the leadership should really work to integrate teams and work on this more diligently.
