Pros

lots of people who are really talented and hard working

Cons

Management has constantly re-organized the company every year for the last 5 years. Result is chaos. No body knows what they're doing. Everytime people start working productively again, they pull the rug out again and everyone starts all over. It's amazing they haven't killed our business yet. Too much investment in future, unproven technology and business models while core businesses go begging for basic investment. This leaves major issues with customer satisfaction.

Pros

Very low pressure compared with most tech jobs... a 10am till 3pm working environment Autodesk has a dominant position in a few segments, particularly with AutoCAD in drafting Salary and lifestyle are very good Most offices have good working environments

Cons

Really average executive team ( a few bright sparks) who have been in positions without consequence of failure (all the poorly executed acquisitions and low growth in new segments)... incredibly self serving bunch who have lost the trust of most middle managers There are some fantastic business units to work in, but it all gets lost in bland corporate strategy... just visit the web site to see how hard it is to understand what Autodesk's brand and direction are? A lot of crony behavior. If you like to fluff your VP instead of the customer, this is the place for you! Since Carol Bartz left, much of the buzz and drive has been absent... what was left departed when they fired the much loved EVP Sales last year Internal staff satisfaction measurements are showing increasingly worse results every year

Pros

-great work life balance -marketing powerhouse -great partner recognition programs -great benefits outside of primary compensation

Cons

-very political organization, cliques; forced ranking system -do not recognize high performing people if you are not in the "clique" -shallow leadership with fixed 360 performance reviews -will not fire senior sales leadership that does not have the ability to effectively lead an organization; as such their revenues are stagnant -no programs for career advancement -poor sales compensation plans
