Pros
This role has challenged me in a way I have longed for the past almost decade of my Human Resources career because I have the resources I need and a tight-knit department which you don't get working for other mid size corporations (they have about 500 employees as of Jan 2025). They hire HEROS, people who exude Hunger, Excellence, Resilience, and Ownership. Standards are high, environment is fast paced, and the majority of people I see that work here are truly dedicated to their roles and to AvantStay.
The starting base salary is decent and there are additional perks and benefits such as stay credits, wellness and WFH stipend, and retreats/offsites. AvantStay contributes to your medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Other benefits are 401k, discounted pet insurance, the LifeMart discount marketplace, and for full-time salaried employees PTO is unlimited.
AvantStay continues to grow. The founders are highly visible and involved in the day-to-day of the business.
Cons
For some, a fast paced environment might be a con as well as the dynamic nature of the business, people roles, and the day-to-day. The majority of corporate non field operations employees work from home and that type of hands-off accountability and self-management is not something all can handle.
In hospitality, depts can become understaffed so the work-life-balance can get thrown off of balance here and there.
