Pros

great facilities, international outreach, team work structure

Cons

Cronyism, nepotism, unethical human resource practices and manipulation, unqualified leadership, good-ole-boy mentality and network, lack of accountability with executive leadership, long-term board member chosen as new CEO in the midst of these types of problematic dysfunction illustrates each of the cons from this and all reviews.

Pros

Good people. Great mission. Nice facilities

Cons

Cronyism is rampant. Ignorant, wasteful and arrogant leadership take credit and blame shift. Executive leadership is male dominant. Weak HR presence. Culture morale is low. Layoffs 3 years in a row. Deep gouges into Awana club brand. Curriculum resources will deteriorate as as organization shifts focus to global.

Poor Leadership - Toxic Culture

Pros

Mission is fabulous, strong care about God's best for childre. Many sincere, good hearted people work at this ministry.

Cons

Sadly, the negative reviews here on Glassdoor are on point. Lack of solid leadership and expertise is deeply hurting this ministry. Constant layoffs and budget cuts are the mode of operating and have been so for the last 15+ years. Leadership isn't humble, doesn't own their mistakes and blames the challenging culture on staff who try to give constructive corrective feedback. Excuses are made for inconsistent leadership direction and lack of accountability. The C-Suite doesn't stop, learn, self direct and redirect. Promotions are given to leaders' friends who may not have experience in functional areas. Evaluation of performance is not consistent. Poor performance by a senior leader's friend is acceptable, while grace is not equally distributed for failings of others not in the "inner circle." Very mismanaged culture.
