Pros

I do not want the cons to outweigh the pros, as I believe Axis listens, changes, and cares. Therefore I weighted Axis as a great company to work for. It truly is an amazing company, but these cons have gone for far too long. Axis has the best people who care about each and every employee. They have a great professional development program and strive to be transparent. Axis truly lives to their core values and everyone of their employees are helpful and are truly dedicated to each other. Each of them has a lot of fun working together, and when in a work meeting, it’s more fun than anything else. The workplace is open-minded, and they are always trying to push boundaries by setting ambitious goals. Everyone I know at Axis is a hard worker. Managers and the Human Resources team are easy to speak to and make the workplace a very comfortable place to work. If you take the time to speak to anyone in HR, it is always a good time. I have not seen that anywhere else.

Cons

It is with great sorrow that I write this, as Axis is a great place to work, with great people and great intentions, but they are slow to adapt to market trends and behind the industry for flexibility, compensation, benefits and job requirements. Flexibility: Management has made it necessary to compel their workforce all to return to the office in October, expecting their employees acquiesce to their ultimate decision. Work from home I have been told has been a manager decision, but I've seen reluctancy to do so. My friends with young kids have been able to stay home this past year and have become conscious of the quality of time with family, which will be inaccessible when obliged to enter the office. This usurpation constitutes the greatest divide, making Axis truly a great place to work, if you do not have young kids. Compensation: Axis has always held to standard that their culture is what drives people to their workforce, therefore keeping pay low. However, the mentality that your pay will be lower than market rate because “the culture is amazing” is a classist bias that is based off of economic privilege. If you can afford to be paid less to enjoy a company culture, then you can already live comfortably within your means, that doesn't apply to everyone. This dissonance between business practice and social responsibility to their employees has had many of my colleagues leave the workplace they so love. Benefits: The HR team at Axis is unparalleled, and I believe they are the best in the industry. But when they explain benefits, they speak as if it is the best. As I consider other employment and research what other companies offer, Axis offers the same, if not less than other companies. Moreover, your sick days are rolled into your PTO, so prudence is taken when needing to take sick time, ultimately abdicating their PTO to instead work from home while sick to use their PTO for vacation instead. Job Requirements: Friends have been interested in joining Axis, and some have applied, but although Axis offers tuition reimbursement, you require a degree to work at Axis for every position.
