Pros

MANUFACTURING SIDE: If your looking for a steady job with guaranteed 40 hrs/week and only looking to be an assembler then this place is great. If your looking for a place to follow a path, move up, and be respected don't come here.

Cons

The treatment of the two sides (MFG & Front Office) is vastly one sided. The front office personnel seem to be the only employee's who are worth recognition. Quarterly company meetings are discouraging to go, because they praise the front office so much it almost feels like we as MFG personnel shouldn't even be there. There have been a few occasions where it seems like MFG was finally starting to be appreciated when the CEO announced that they were going to start paying more attention to the unknown people who don't get to do the big activities and are doing the day to day things that keep this place running, but again this was referring to the front office and no mention of the MFG side. This place tears you down. In the beginning your all fired up with idea's and projects and only met with resistance or the people who don't care, or view your suggestions as unimportant. There have been instances where idea's are submitted, shot down, and then implemented later with no credit going to the operators/individual who submitted the idea. The cycle reverses and you get so fed up with it that you become the person who doesn't care when others come to you. Another big issue is that there is no direction for development on the MFG side, no career path if you want to move up. The "pay based on individual performance" model is broken and only promotes more favoritism. We all play a role at this company whether it is being an operator on the line sitting for 10hrs/day or being the CEO, and from a manufacturing point of view it is becoming difficult to keep coming into this place every day.

Pros

- Axon has a great CEO who has incredible ideas about public safety - The PTO policy is very convenient - made great connections with my colleagues

Cons

- In 2+ years in my team, I haven't seen a single colleague receive a promotion or raise above 3-4% (team of 6 analysts - and yes, we openly talk about our salaries). - Recently Axon "re-branded" our job titles, while the real reason was not disclosed, we later found out it was a move to basically offer a lower pay to new hires for that same role. - While this may not be applicable on all teams, my direct manager micromanaged a LOT. We were constantly asked to provide updates, have excessive meetings, document everything we did, and fill out several useless forms before we could actually do the work needed for our projects. - don't expect to get anything beyond a 3-4% raise. Axon, understandably so, places employees on a bell curve to determine performance -- everyone I ever spoke in my team has always been rated in the same performance category, receiving the same % increase every year. Meanwhile, every C-Suite exec has tens of millions in stock grants, definitely the largest employee to exec gap I've seen from all the places I worked for. - Get ready to work on weekends/afterhours. I've gotten texts from my manager on Saturdays at 10pm.

Pros

The Company is doing well, and the growth is exciting. The products and programs are innovative, and the mission is noble. There are some fun perks, and a lot of great people.

Cons

As some other reviews have mentioned, the Organization is extremely sales-focused, and rewards sloppy and inappropriate behavior, as long as it results in a sale. Then, Finance and other administrative teams are expected to deal with the sloppiness and all of the headaches that it creates, no matter what it takes. The end result is extremely long hours and ZERO work-life balance for those teams. The group that I worked in was very focused and everyone seemed to have the best of intentions, but the support from upper management was severely lacking. Additionally, within the department, the work seemed to be very unevenly distributed, with certain people working all of the time while others seemed to spend alot of time chatting, gossiping and even drinking in the office regularly. The Controller encouraged and even participated in that behavior, so I got the impression that was normal and expected, but it seemed very abnormal to me. There were quite a few times where I, and members of my team, worked extreme hours to meet deadlines, while others spent a lot of time drinking and goofing off, which made it very difficult to stay motivated. There was a dependency on outside contractors just to keep up with all the work, but it sometimes caused some confusion regarding reporting relationships, and it occasionally seemed like the contractors were treated better than actual employees - which also seemed abnormal to me. Overall, I probably would not recommend this Company for Finance folks, unless you enjoy working ALOT of hours, or you’re an alcoholic - then you’d fit in perfectly.
