Some good things, some bad things

Pros

Colleagues are generally very intelligent and good to work with. Reasonable working hours. Get on the right project and there is some challenging and interesting work. Legacy Detica still well known and respected, which opens doors.

Cons

Get on the wrong project and you'll be stuck doing mind-numbing tasks. Business is moving away from interesting custom solutions towards 'out of the box products' (configuring these is one of the mind-numbing task previously mentioned). Pay isn't great.

Not a pleasant working environment

Pros

Free tea, coffee, fruit. That's about it... there used to be free soft drinks but they got rid of that. A super locked down environment with no smiling and no interaction with colleagues, so I guess that's a positive, if you are extremely quiet and enjoy doing nothing but corporate cube-slave work all day with no distractions.

Cons

It is extremely disorganized from the top down and senior management seem to have no awareness of a "work life" balance or what other competitors workplaces are like.. I'm not sure they have visited an office that has a window or natural light in over 30 years. There is a massive turnover rate, with few skilled employees staying longer than 6 months. Management seems to want to treat employees like shareholders, having endless mandatory "board" style meetings to discuss financial performance and pie charts at ridiculous 8am Monday or 5pm Friday times.. The brand keeps changing, they can't decide if they are a software house or a consultancy or a vendor or ... what Cyber do they do exactly? Not the military definition, that's for sure. They seem to have never heard of agile development. Dress code is "formal bland shirts suits and ties at all times." For all staff, regardless of role. No casual fridays. It's honestly like going back in time 20-30 years working in their offices.
