The people at BAE Systems are fantastic - hardworking, work with integrity, available to answer questions and support younger members, and fun to be around. In addition, the learning opportunities are great.

Cons

The upper management is not as connected to the engineers as they should be. Tend to get caught up in a lot of process and old ways of doing things.

Supportive company culture (vice competitive) Good communications between major groups beyond EI&S Opportunities throughout US and some overseas sites Opportunities to transfer between major groups as appropriate (that is, you're not stuck in a particular type of task; if you have appropriate skills you can move to different lines of business)

Cons

Tight focus on Defense and Intelligence contracting Clearance requirements -- common to many Government and especially DoD/IC contractors Work dependent on competitive contracts -- procurement and renewal tension

Pros

Plenty of work. Ability to capture new business keeps everyone working. Philosophy of 100% honesty with customer. Aggressively trying to broaden technical capabilities.

Cons

Everything made centers on in house IR FPA technology. Feels like every program is just repackaging the last one with a slight modification. Everything is high volume production - makes a lot of $$ for company but does not translate into more $$ for employees. High volume makes for less interesting engineering.
