Clueless Management

Pros

Provide health, dental, and vision insurance along with short term disability. Large established company, and they pay me every other week on time.

Cons

Old equipment that managers refuse to allocate money to fix. Deceptive hiring processes (I was told I would be making one number, and 4 months in they changed the deal) are a mess and create a high degree of distrust towards management. Most recently, the company cuts out small benefits, such as providing food for production workers on Christmas day. Managers expect you to "work with them" when making sure the shifts get covered, but they won't allow me to trade my shift if it is puts someone else into overtime. Work-life balance is something management likes to mention, but they seem to have absolutely no understanding of what it actually is. Getting a transfer to a different position (even lateral movement) is difficult, and managers will hold people in their department for up to 18 months before approving the change. This is done to keep overtime costs down. Hiring is dreadfully slow and inefficient process, taking more than a year to replace retirees.

Good place to learn

Pros

This is an excellent place to learn,as it is a small facility with constant shifts of responsibilities.Safety is a top priority there so be prepared for that.Mostly nice people to work with. Good benefits and perks offered to employees. Facility is small so everyone knows each other. You can do flexing, meaning work 4 daysx10h if allowed, with one day off.

Cons

Once staffed in one position it is hard to progress with your career. You will learn a lot but money wise and career wise ,you most likely won't get far unless you are willing to relocate.. Employees do not have that much voice given regarding their overall satisfaction. You will be given goals to complete in order to have a decent increase in your salary. Promotions do not happen often.
