Pros

I am not sure the benefits can be beat. The company has been in business for over 150 years and is very successful. There are lots of very smart and dedicated employees. They tend to be very careful with hiring cycles and will usually do their best to avoid having to let people go in the downturns.

Cons

Slow! All decision making, processes and projects seem to take longer than expected. IT has moved to a global structure which makes them even more removed and slower to get things done. For a large and successful company, their direct marketing and CRM efforts are well behind the times. Also it seems they keep moving these Professional Development Program people around at the expense of those that have been here.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you see the great value of our benefits and the value of being part of our 150 year old family, and that you enjoy being surrounded by smart, dedicated colleagues. There are a lot of development opportunities outside of our Professional Development Program. We have an open job posting process; in addition, there are plenty of training offerings and plenty of ways to expand your professional horizon by joining various project teams, and by networking. We recommend that you have a conversation with your manager and/or Human Resources Business Partner to discuss your development goals.

Pros

Amazing company, wants to be the best in everything it does, whether that is Engineering, R&D, Customer Care, Sales, HR, etc. Pay is very competitive - bonus has paid out over 100% past several years, benefits are top notch - seriously, you can't find a higher 401(k) employer contribution/match. People are super smart - you'll learn so much. Global organization means lots of opportunities for career development, even international assignments. New CEO is very market-focused, open to new ideas and someone employees are really enjoying as a new leader. BASF is the best kept secret in the market (and I just let it out!)

Cons

Hey, when you have super smart people and a 150 year old company (yes, 150), we can be very deliberate and thoughtful in how we do things. Sometimes it means we're slow to react or make a change. But has your company survived 150 years and is still going strong? :)

Thank you for your review. It is great to know that you appreciate everything this "best kept secret" has to offer! And you may have heard, that we are working towards streamlining some of our processes, where possible. We are going strong! Many more years of success for BASF!
