Pros

BASF makes money by being a very efficient manufacturer of commodity chemicals. It is attempting to improve performance it is attempting to reinvent itself as a specialty chemical company to extract greater value.

Cons

Being part of this transformation is exciting and at the same time very frustrating as many working for BASF have skills sets useful to a commodity focused business. These individuals struggle to contribute in a meaningful way to the new value oriented business model.

Pros

International corporation with excellent benefits. Potential international travel if you have high enough position.

Cons

Total lack of executive diversity. Three reorgs in three years resulted in 14 executive positions staffed with 11 white, male Germans plus one white, male Canadian. Of the other two, one was white, female German. And this was at the new North American HQ for the Ag Biotech division. If you have dreams of advancing, don't spend them here.

Pros

Nice people to work with

Cons

As with large corporations, difficult to maneuver through to get simple answers. Lots of layoffs due to acquisitions and integrations
