Pros

Steady pay, lots of overtime if you're not afraid of working. Pay scale is on par. Job security in our present economy. With all the older people retirement approaching good chance at moving up.

Cons

Entry Level pay is not great. A lot of the plants are old and out dated. A lot of work keeping old equipment running. Coworkers can be unbearable at times.

Pros

laid-back environment, cross-train in different labs, safety protocols are the best I've seen, work-life balance.

Cons

Budget Cuts, lay-offs, NO CAFE, people abusing sick days. In some areas, employees don't understand the definition of team work. Some will do whatever it takes to get ahead (cut-throat environment). In terms of advancement, it's all about who you know.

Pros

Generally great people. Good benefits. Opportunities to move around a lot if you are open to relocate. Great discounts on lots of different products (cars, appliances, etc.) because BASF supplies everyone with everything.

Cons

Risk averse. Slow moving. Follows the market rather than leads. Developments are led by chemists which frequently benchmark new product developments against BASF products, rather than the market leaders. If you are selected as a "high potential", you can walk on water, regardless of the poor quality of your work or lack of respect for and by your coworkers. European organization often pushes for launch of products in other markets that don't fit the market needs all in the name of "globalization". Very evident "diversification: efforts for new hires, leading to unqualified people being hired because of their gender or ethnicity.
