Pros

Technological advance. Great location learning opportunities, good graduate program and management is keen to invest in the company progressively in the refinery.

Cons

Hierarchical and slow to change, recently it has become more top down management. Some functional areas offer less growth and career progression.

Pros

At the time, the people the ambience. Employees were by and large young with fresh ideas

Cons

The social aspect of the company had gone. Swallowed up by the corporate arm of BHPB The Petroleum division had relocated to Houston. Therefore support to London Depts in the UK was minimal at best.

Pros

Nice offices, loads of space. Pay and benefits are better than average for a mining company but worse than for a real commodity trading house. Company tries to do the right thing by staff.

Cons

Very conservative and wholly focused on compliance. Not an exciting environment commercially. Although company is very large the commercial operation is very small leaving fewer options. Internal moves may require relocation. Management is top down, no flow of ideas upwards allowed.
