      Complete disregard for employee value

      Pros

      Friendly colleagues, onsite perks at headquarters location, work life balance

      Cons

      Having to live in Houston. Unethical business practices and shady deal structuring in the sales organization. Seasoned, experienced employees treated like they are children who have to ask permission for almost everything. Egotistical, abrasive, selfish and discriminatory management team. Entrenched Good 'ole white boy company - if you are minority or female or over 45 you will be treated very poorly eventually and possibly forced out - even with years of competent, faithful service. Worst company I have ever worked for and I am embarrassed to even include it on my resume.

      Your work makes difference to very large number of users Decent development processes that let you concentrate on doing the job (relatively) Industry leader in several areas Very flexible (home\office) time Decent work environment

      Less innovation Immature product management - what software are you developing? Limited opportunities in advancing career Growing emphasis on india development center Collection of acquisitions

      Blade Logic has effected it's take over and continues to remove core BMC personnel

      Pros

      Good technology and great customer base; excellent reputation in the marketplace. Good work environment and depending on your manager you can make things happen.

      Cons

      Culture is very reactive, whipsaw. Head of sales seems to not like BMC employees, preferring those from Blade or PTC. Very conservatively run organization with Finance having a large impact on that, very difficult to book orders. Back office is a mess.
