Pros

Salary is good and so are the benefits.

Cons

Management is horrible. The management of BMO Private Bank is completely incompetent. They have run moral into the ground and have no idea how to run a wealth management firm.

Pros

Trying hard for a pro and failing. not impressed with the new management. We literally have hired management who have zero experience in investments even though they are licensed.

Cons

Poor benefits, retirement, and management.

Pros

Pay was decent, branch managers I worked with were all good people.

Cons

Policies are a swamp for front line employees. Entirely possible to get yourself fired because of how frequently they are updated and communicated to bankers. Ultimately its our responsibility to know them (talking over 2000 pages of pdfs at any given moment, organized by a third grader). Incentives to hit your monthly sales goals used to be amazing. Now they can best be described as a joke. Hitting 100% of your sales goal pays you $100. No easy feat mind you. Best plan is to collect a salary and stay off of radar for as long as you plan on working there. Oh, if you plan on moving up you need to play politics. There is little if anything relating to merit promotions at BMO. Most of the executives were "tapped" and on career paths irregardless of what job they did. Line level employees? At best you could set your sights on Branch Manager. Anything at corporate is laughable for even a top performer. I was ranked in top 10 percentile 3 years in a row and no one approached me about my interest in moving up. The problem is, top performers help their immediate manager and there market managers look great. They have no incentive to move these people. Only underperformers are looked at because they drag both of these people down. Sad really, but not unique to BMO im sure.
