Pros

- People ridiculously kind and caring despite obviously having busy schedules themselves and make sure to make summer analysts feel welcome - Culture especially in EQD so welcoming and friendly and global - A learning experience but also a way to network, with good possibility of going to full time after graduation - Rotation on minimum 2 desks to give you experience across Global Markets (from EQD to Fixed Income) and across job roles (trading, sales, structuring, etc.) - Hours are not extreme like IB, but pay IS comparable - Seems like everyone will find their place somewhere, as there are quantitative roles with structuring vs more client-centered soft-skill-needed roles with sales vs more stressful and slightly math roles with trading

Cons

- Sometimes way too much focus on networking over content of work - Experience very much determined by the people on your desk and the mentors that take you under your wing - Did not seem like people under different Global Business Lines knew each other or what the others did at all with different GBLs having different vibes like one GBL more French (EQD), one GBL more of a "boy's club", etc.

Pros

Local US staff are generally nice and 29 vacation days

Cons

The management team are all French expats from head office who are protected = no consequences for bad performance and serious HR issues. No career development with strong favoritism for other French. Management force it down peoples throats that everything is fine and ignore that everyone is unhappy and looking to leave. Line managers are alright however the upper management French layer are the problem, they are unprofessional and would not have such high position in any other bank.

Pros

above industry average vacation days ~30 days per year, but no personal days and no sick days

Cons

Everything else you can think of: - Stubborn and incompetent Senior Management - The bank is constantly doing org change, nearshoring, offshoring initiatives to save cost. If you have team members leaving, they will not replace the HC and the rest of the team end up doing more work each person - which results in more people leaving - People care here is a joke. The coronavirus is getting serious and heard that the bank still has not announced mandatory WFH policy for non-essential employees. If any, they just figured out a rotational schedule for teams to go into the office on a day ago - 5 steps BEHIND any other banks in NYC! - Diversity does not exist here: you look at the MD/D level and above, most Management in this company is French, except the few who need to face American clients or regulators. Most senior leaders at the bank have been here forever (likely their first job out of college) and have absolutely no idea about the outside world, trends, best practices and are so stubborn to take in any different ideas - No career growth opportunity above associate / vp level: Little to no salary increase after promotion (0-5K) & way slower than industry average promotion cycle - HR and Marketing like to do cosmetic work such as different culture events, talks but nothing material has changed - Significantly behind in IT infra and applications..many are from the last century and will never get upgraded because the goal is to move to a new platform (been talking about this for 5+ years...)
