Pros

Opportunity for professional and career growth is good. Creativity is encouraged. Communication within the company has significantly improved. Compensation is fair i.e. market rate.

Cons

The bank has an entrenched old boy network. You can work smart, hard, and work to improve the bottom line of your respective department however, management continues to acknowledge and rewards those they like. Mediocrity and complicity is rewarded. The company values Trust, Teamwork, and People are not adhered to by middle management. I believe the CEO is sincere however, his middle management have not bought into his message.

Pros

Laid back work environment. Plenty of autonomy to do my job as I see fit.

Cons

Compensation ok but not great relative to peers. Too many lifers hanging around without motivation. IT infrastructure could be described as penny wise pound foolish. Entire backoffice departments could be eliminated via techonology, but are kept around to keep people employed because a lot of lifer types still around from legacy Mellon.

Pros

Bank of New York Mellon understands and values the need for employees to have a good work/life balance. Workers at BNY Mellon have a reasonable degree of autonomy and flexible working arrangements are readily available. An attitude of trust pervades the workplace.

Cons

There seems to be a slow road to promotions. There is a newfound focus on efficiency (aka cost cutting) which may impact moral & work experience in the future. Salaries are middling at best and overall employee longevity reduces prospects for rapid advancement.
