I joined as a Software Graduate yet ended up in a Networking Graduate role on the other side of the country, with no idea about this until I arrived there. Even the team I was joining was expecting a Networking Graduate, not a Software one. BT did NOTHING to help rectify this, trust me when you are in you're just a number. They take on too many Graduates to handle and once you're in they are just focused on the next intake.
I eventually switched roles after eight months of persistently asking to be given the right role and basically learning nothing, as my whole learning and career plans were focused around Software NOT Networking.
Even when I switched roles the work was boring and almost non-existent. Training was also non-existent. I had almost ZERO hands-on experience or working with tech, so after another six months of time wasting I left. My only regret is not leaving sooner as all the warning signs were there.
