Words mean little within the department
- Promotions dangled over people's heads, assurances that behavioral issues will be resolved, team-building events fall through, etc.
Favoritism biases upper managements' enforcement of the rules
- Overlooking not clocking out for lunch/breaks, diminishing the severity of workplace harassment, distributing responsibilities unequally and burdening a select few
Reporting the aforementioned offenses results in subtle acts of retaliation
- Those who spoke up about the harassment were expected to work longer than 12 hour shifts while the offenders barely had enough work to fill an 8 hour shift
Lack of professionalism often interferes with your work
- In conjunction with long hours, the immaturity within the workplace resulted in a stressful environment, and evidently, high turnover
All in all, avoid production chemist positions like the plague; we're not leaving in droves for no reason
