Pros

Previously the team had a good culture and a balanced workload. The earlier structure supported a healthy work life balance with a four day work week. Team members were collaborative and the environment used to be supportive and productive.

Cons

Since the new team lead became manager the environment has become highly political and driven by favoritism. Workload distribution feels uneven and certain employees appear to receive preferential treatment. The four day work schedule was changed to five days without consulting the team which affected morale significantly. There is also a culture where people feel pressure to react positively to the manager’s messages to stay in good standing. Overall this has created a stressful atmosphere and many good employees are now leaving.

Cons

• New team lead turned manager has created a political environment with visible favoritism • Uneven workload distribution across the team • Team members often feel pressure to stay in the manager’s good books (reacting to messages with hearts, praise, etc.) • 4-day schedule was changed to a 5-day rotating shift with no salary adjustment • Many team members have started leaving and morale has declined
