Pros

Good pay, pretty good health benefits, good vacation time, pretty good work-life balance, and they have a defined benefit plan.

Cons

Costly pension (7%) , years/70 * high year salary. No deferred comp matching. Strict M-F, 8-4 schedule. In my department/section anyways.

Low morale, hard workers are seldom appreciated

Pros

Good benefits, job stability, once you understand the job tasks it is easy work. Management is uneven but there are a few good managers around.

Cons

Terrible managers can ruin an otherwise decent workplace. It seems people who should have been fired years ago for incompetence and abysmal work ethic and treatment of employees are not only kept on but promoted. Frustrating policies in place that make employees the target of taxpayer anger and hatred.

Pros

Agency is geared to assisting unemployed and underemployed job seekers. Individual employment plans and one on one assistance is a true benefit for the job seekers. Resume' and other assistance is available in three centers in Baltimore County.

Cons

Agency is not keeping up with the high tech methods of gaining work. It has lost its focus on assisting job seekers with "how" to look search for work and how to "campaign" for careers. High case loads, high employee turnover and a failure to adjust with the times is keeping this agency from truly assisting job seekers in earning suitable, gainful and happy careers.
