Pros

If you know the right people and if your manager is willing to work with you, you will certainly get to where you want to get. A good culture in which to work.

Cons

People do work crazy hours and are switched on all the time it seems. The appraisal process is not as transparent as could be.

Pros

Barcap is a great place to work. While I was there, I met a lot of senior people who became very invested in my professional development and reached out to me throughout my time at the firm, even though I was only a summer analyst. Also, some of the groups are top on the street in their industry, including Natural Resources, Power, Communications & Media, and Retail.

Cons

Depending on which group you're in, you may get limited deal experience compared to some of the better banks, including MS/GS.
