The pay was good for the region.

Cons

Good ole’ boy network was, and probably still is in full force. Bot only that, but a reading and math primer would go a long way. The resistance to improvement is pretty much insurmountable. It’s cliquish, the hiring and promotion processes move at a glaciers pace, and finally, if you don’t have the right connections you will be targeted eventually.
