Pros

Pay is above minimum wage (which is great for a part-time job in retail!) Work around your school or other work schedule Enjoyable atmosphere (music, decorated nicely, ) Great employee discount & extra discount days Incentives to do well (program for those that get customer feedback, holiday party for ALL employees, etc.) Little cleaning required (since the store has custodial staff, you don't have to clean the facilities!) Team environment

Cons

As with any retail environment, you get some disgruntled customers. In my experience though, managers are always available to step in if things get out of hand. Some days/shifts are long when you're on your feet all day.

Pros

Good discount on name brands (North Face, Columbia), awesome discount on Bass Pro brands. Fun and intelligent employees (in customer service at least) Involvement in the local community.

Cons

Communication issues between departments in store. Very little formal training for position, you just get thrown in. Management not available when you need them. You have to learn a lot because of the size of the store.
