      Great pay for Columbus Internship

      Pros

      Great Intern pay at $24/hr. Get to work with helpful older engineers that you can learn a lot from.

      Cons

      I wasn't given enough stuff to work on. For extended periods of time I wouldn't have projects to work on. It was an Engineering internship, but often I would work on non-tech related stuff. Would have liked to have more responsibilities and technical work.

      Technically interesting work with a good degree of autonomy.

      Cons

      As others have posted on this site, Battelle has become just another money grubbing company (don't let the 'non-profit' tag fool you) wherein upper management are acquiring more yachts, cars, and vacation houses at the expense of the workers. Our vacation days, medical benefits, incentive bonuses, and pensions have all been eliminated or drastically reduced. Battelle does not allow personnel on gov't travel to recoup all of their Federal per diem (as per Federal policy) as ALL other Federal contractors do. Then, there are the firings and lay-offs. At my office, there have been about 15 out of a total staff of 40 or so. Jeff Wadsworth has insituted a culture of fear and intimidation. Just a guidline or policy infraction can get you fired these days. Battelle has gone from first to worst on my resume.
