      Pros

      -Flexibility in work schedule. -Salary. -Excluding senior management, a very talented group of people to work alongside.

      Cons

      -Way, way, way too top heavy. -Constant, unnecessary stress of looming reductions in staff as a result of very poor management skills. -Little room for advancement. -Poor opportunities for training. -Extremely and overly bureaucratic, so much so, to the point of intefering with actual work.

      Pros

      The company itself is great. It has very good benefits plus there is a pension program in addition to a fantastic 401(K) plan with Vanguard.

      Cons

      When I first came on board with the company's office in Arlington, VA, it was a much different place from what it is now. The focus seemed to be more on taking care of people and, as a non-profit company, less on the skullduggery one might expect from 'for profit' companies. Unfortunately, as time went by and I had the opportunity to peer behind the veil, I found that staff members MUST ingratiate themselves to Management in order to have any hopes of moving up. It is favoritism that will get you places, not merit.

      The base pay is good; at or slightly above the industry norm

      Cons

      Benefits get cut every year (they just did another "reorganization" in summer 2012) Managers are aloof, unconcerned, and otherwise disinterested in the 30+ people they "manage" ZERO opportunity for advancement, growth, lateral moving, taking on more responsibility, or anything the like. Everything is manage-by-email
