      Pros

      Very low stress, people are very nice here. Management is very flexible with scheduling. Work-life balance is valued. There are many oppportunities to work on a variety of projects.

      Cons

      Management lets deadbeats continue to work here. Work is contract-based so there is some concern for job security. Good performance is not always recognized. You need to network to get noticed.

      Pros

      Very good flexibility in schedule and work environment. Generally good pay and benefits. On-site work-out facility. There are a variety of projects to work on.

      Cons

      Excessive red tape in trying get things done. Definiton of roles and responsibilities is very cluttered. In competition -- Battelle has most of the usual disadbvantages of a large company without the advantages that a large company has.

      Pros

      Supervisors/managers are incredibly supportive of interns and help make sure they know the background of all of their tasks (i.e. why they have to do them, what they affect, etc) which makes doing some of the paper pushing tolerable. Pay is decent and hours are very flexible for part-time interns.

      Cons

      Within finance/accounting departments, it seems like there are many employees who have gotten a job because they knew someone within the organization. This makes it hard to see the employees as high-performing and I tend to see them as part of a long chain of favoritism. Also, none of the employees strike me as employees with high aspirations. Most of them seem to be very happy with their jobs and would love to stay in them for many years to come (which is why a large portion of people in Battelle have worked there for 15+ years). These may be pros to some people, but I'd rather have a more competitive environment.
