      Pros

      Some good fellow employees and lower level managers are trying to learn their jobs.

      Cons

      Management keeps folks in the dark at best and lies directly to your face at worst. Lots of cuts of senior employees to hire less expensive and less qualified employees. Massive cuts in benefits, now operating below industry average. Zero chance of advancing (lucky if you get to keep a job).

      Pros

      Work life balance. Interesting work if you are on a good contract.

      Cons

      Almost no promotion potential. Got rid of pension and sick time (now just PTO). Health benefits aren't as good as they used to be. Expected to bring in work and write proposals on top of your full-time technical job. Management can be a bit sleazy.

      Pros

      Good people and great scientific capabilities if you can focus middle management on what matters most.

      Cons

      Lack of leadership, troubled financial management, failure to focus on improving corporate capabilities for over a decade. Refusal to hire new staff where needed to carry out mission. Sub-market pay and poor incentives for performance. Scientists and engineers don't make great managers and leaders. Near total absence of MBAs in management positions.
